About me

I first started practising yoga in 1994. Like many students this was initially motivated by wanting to heal a 'bad back', plus some curiosity. I loved it!

My teaching journey began somewhat unexpectedly with a group of motorcyclists, when it became apparent that I knew some things that could really help this group of people with aching, battered and protesting bodies. I set up an impromptu class which was eagerly received, and so I began.

I am a fully qualified British Wheel of Yoga teacher, 500+ hrs (click here for more information)

I have continued training with a number of modules in Yoga Therapy and Therapeutic application of yoga, with the Yoga Biomedical Trust and Yoga Campus.

My teachers have included:

  • Yoga therapy - Doug Keller
  • Para Yoga - Rod Stryker
  • Iyengar Yoga - Aadil Palkhivala and Padmasimha
  • Anatomy and Physiology - Ruth Gilmore, Julie Gudmestad, Doug Keller
  • Yoga nidra - Uma Dinsmore-Tuli
  • Marma - ISHTA
  • Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs - Alison Trewhela
  • Dynamic flow and advanced practice - Kathryn Budig
  • plus many other local and British yoga teachers

I have also trained in a specific programme for healthy lower backs   http://www.yogaforbacks.co.uk/

I have been teaching for over 10 years now, and completed nearly 1000 hrs of training. My students range in age from 12 to nearly 100, and have included: secure mental health unit patients, hospice day patients, professional athletes, dancers, climbers, people with specific issues such as Cystic Fybrosis, MS, ME, Fibromyalgia, scoliosis, depression, panic attacks and a wide selection of members of the public from hairdressers to lawyers, tattoo artists to enginners, social workers, nurses, teachers, council workers, carpenters to directors. Yoga is for everyone.
